FAQ of Watch Winders
  1. What is a watch winder?
A mechanical watch that is automatic or self winding is wound automatically by the natural motion of the wearer’s arm. If worn daily automatic mechanical watches do not require manual winding.

People, who do not wear their watches every day, watch winders are available to keep the watches wound. Watch winder will keep your automatic watch running even if you are not wearing it every day.
  2. Who needs a watch winder?
If you own one automatic watch and wear it daily, watch winder is not for you. However, if you own many automatic watches and do not wear them on a regular basis, watch winder is certainly a perfect gadget for you!

Watch winders not only keep your automatic watches running but also protect them from dust and damage. Watch winder is perfect for more complicated watches that have functions like moon phase or perpetual calendars.
  3. Can a watch winder over-wind my watch?
Automatic watches has an over-wind protection mechanism to avoid damage to the movement however, if the over-wind mechanism is constantly used for hours and days at a time, the lubrication of the mechanism is worn out faster.

Keeping all this in mind, today’s automatic winders are designed to address this issue. To protect your precious collection, it is highly recommended to use a real electronic programmed automatic winder over a watch-spinner.
  4. What is TPD (Turns per day)?
TPD stands for Turns per day to wind an automatic watch.
We offer 3 TPD settings on our watch winders and they are as follow:
    1. 672 TPD –Motor rotates 28 times continuously when first turned on. It stops for approximately an hour and repeats the process.
    2. 960 TPD - Motor rotates 40 times continuously when first turned on. It stops for approximately an hour and repeats the process.
    3. 1248 TPD - Motor rotates 52 times continuously when first turned on. It stops for approximately an hour and repeats the process.
It is always a good idea to use the least number of turns to wind up a watch. This will eliminate the excessive wear and tear to the watch movement mechanism.
  5. Why watch winder do not turn all the time?
As indicated in our previous answer, our watch winders come with three settings. This is to protect the watch from over winding and saving it from extra wear and tear.
